Hi All, I can't make tonight. Mark Cannon will be running the show. Donal Murphy, Mairead and Ciara - can you make yourselves known to Mark (he's the good looking dude with the crutch) on arrival as I didn't get to include your names on the list before I sent it to him. He can slot you in with a suitable handicap! Ciara - we should be able to arange for someone to swim along with you - you'll have no problem finishing! Enjoy everyone!! I assume all bribes are transferrable Ben?

What a great event. Thanks to Ben (handicap master and organiser in chief) along with Mark (Sarge on the night), Naoimi, Sue (wetsuit stripper invigilator) and Joe. Capt. Kane on his surf board was a great addition to the event too (plus he had to lug around a big board so extra thanks). So many new and regular faces, lovely summer evening. Bravo!

Hi all
I think its safe to say last night swim event was a resounding success, well done to everybody for completing the swim course. Thank you to everybody for taking part but mostly to Ben for collating all the information in advance, to Naomi, Sue, Joe, Andrew and Mr. Bondi Rescue Ronan Kane for helping out on the night.
The session provides for as close to race like conditions as you can get with the added kicker of T1 practice upon exit from the water. It's safe to say the swim course was not the measured 650m so I have adjusted this to reflect 850m total swim length.
I have attached the results to this post, we have tried to capture them as accurately as possible but with a manual system there is always going to be some error - if you are not happy with youre swim time then you should swim faster! Seriously if you think something is glaringly wrong let me know but bear in mind it was a training event and these results are for your own use. Your total time includes the time it took to remove your wetsuits - so anybody that struggled with wetsuit removal under a pressured environment should know what you have to practice after every open water swim - valuable seconds to be saved!
Brendan Murphy overcame an 8:15 handicap to take 1st place and best overall swim time. This was despite him taking a wrong turn upon exiting the water! First home for the ladies was "Elaine's Friend Amy" who overcame a 3 minute handicap to place second overall. Sinead "2 minutes to remove wetsuit" Murphy had the fasted overall ladies swim time completing the course in 14:05
Again well done to all, especially some of our New To Tri group who may not have swam this distance in open water before.
We hope to hold another event before the summer is out.
