The Phoenix Park Duathlon Series is back for 2017 with 3 great races in April, June and July. Belpark is delighted to host the last duathlon series race of the TI calendar on Saturday 22-April. We're also delighted to have a title sponsor, Mason Hayes & Curran, along with several other sponsors providing support, goodies and discounts to competitors. Sharon & Cristian are also working on Junior races in June & July. The sub-committee of Ciaran Burns, Sarah O'Regan, Helen Holohan, Padraig Owens and myself are working hard to prepare all the logistics to make it the biggest duathlon series in Ireland. We will be looking for all members to support, whether it's promoting the race with work colleagues, friends or family, or perhaps you can help in advance or on the day marshalling/volunteering. It's a club run event and a major source of funding for the club, so we really appreciate your help. We'll be in touch! GREAT IRELAND RUN - is anyone available this Sunday 9th April from 11.30 - 12.30 to hand out flyers at the finish area of the 10km in the Phoenix Park? If you're running you could help out after, or if you're not, please come along - with 1,000s of runners, it's a great chance to promote our duathlon series.

Hi everyone, Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably aware that tomorrow (Saturday, April 22nd) is the first of Belpark’s three-race duathlon series. Tomorrow’s race is also a National Series race. It’s going to be a super day with lots of you volunteering your time as Marshals, a few racing, and hopefully a large number of you spectating & cheering on participants! If you are using social media at all, please remember to use the #PhoenixParkDuathlon hashtag. The Club twitter handle is @belparktri which can also be used in your tweets, but please use the hashtag as much as possible. We’ll also be using Instagram, and you can tag your photos with #PhoenixParkDuathlon as well as #Belparktri (using the latter will make the photo appear in the Insta feed on the Belpark website). If you prefer using Facebook you can also share pics on the Phoenix Park Duathlon page www.facebook.com/PhoenixParkDuathlon/If you’re unable to attend in-person, you can help out in other ways: please retweet and share information, photos, etc about the race. It’s the best way to make people aware that Belpark Triathlon Club is organising such great races, and it will make people aware of the June & July races, too. Where possible please share this link as well: www.belparktri.ie Thanks for all your help and all the best to those taking part in the race tomorrow.

The next Phoenix Park Duathlon is on Wed 7th June - we will have a new transition layout, plus a new mount/dismount line nearer transition. The big addition is the junior race before the adult race. Thanks to everyone who's helping as a volunteer marshall. Full details will be shared over coming days. One request from OPW/Gardaí: members are reminded that group cycling training is not permitted in the Phoenix Park. The Gardaí reported an issue to me last Thursday 25th May at the Dublin Staff Relay that several cyclists were on the bike course training. While they were not identified as Belpark members, the duathlon was mentioned, so the Gardaí asked me to communicate this to members. I doubt it was a Belpark group - it could have been race participants out checking out the course, which we can't prevent. Your cooperation is appreciated as rely on support & goodwill from the Gardaí and OPW teams to organise the race in such a setting.
Thanks, David

David - Thanks to you and everyone involved in organising and marshalling at the Duathlon this evening. It was a great event and I really appreciated the shouts of encouragement as well.
Got some very positive feedback from other participants after the event.
Looking forward to the next one already!

Thanks everyone who helped out last night - we'd over 40 marshals and put on our biggest race yet, with over 200 adults and 70 juniors. I was delighted to see how the entire team pulled together to design a new junior course, with 3 waves. The new adult transition and mount line also worked out. The feedback from Technical Officials, Gardaí, sponsors & competitors has been positive. Everyone's time & expertise has been really appreciated - a lot behind the scenes. As a club, we're leading the way, putting on top quality events for all ages, helping grow the sport of triathlon and get people active. It's a lot of work, but to be honest it's very rewarding when you see the end result. Time for a break, then back again for July!

Duathlon Series: on behalf of the race committee, we’d like to thank all our members for supporting the Phoenix Park Duathlon Series. Over 3 dates in April, June and July we hosted over 800 adults and 120 juniors. Highlights include hosting the final National Series race of the duathlon season, as well as the popular junior races. Feedback has been very positive from competitors, TI, OPW and Gardaí. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of over 100 club members. The race series is critical for the growth of the club – in terms of finances and promoting participation at all levels of the sport. Thank you.
