Dear Belpark member, please see notice sent to TI members regarding Technical Offical (TO) training. Any club who organises races is required to provide TOs for other races so it would be great if any Belpark member is interested in training up as a TO. We already have some members trained up but the more we have the better. As a TO, you get to officate at TI-sanctioned races and play an important role in ensuring a high standard is maintained at these events..plus you get a ring-side view of the race itself!! Triathlon Ireland is pleased to announce the introduction of our new Local Technical Official (LTO) course taking place throughout February and March 2017. The LTO course is the initial segment of the accredited Technical Officials education programme that matches the accreditation requirements to conform with the ITU Level 1 Technical Officials certificate programme.



The Local Technical Official course is the initial step on the ITU officiating pathway. The Local Technical Official qualification is aimed at any person who is interested in becoming a volunteer Technical Official and has been designed to provide attendees with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently officiate at Triathlon Ireland sanctioned events.



The training is made up of:



A full day course



Open book MCQ



The completion of six shadows of qualified Officials



Completion and submission of event reports



Following the successful completion of the theoretical and practical elements, candidates will be eligible to officiate as Technical Delegates and Race Referees at TI events. Furthermore, successful LTOs will have the opportunity to complete the National Technical Official course to qualify as an ITU Level 1 Technical Official



Pre-Requisites



To attend the LTO course candidates must:



Be a minimum of 18 years of age



Cost of Courses



The course is free of charge.

Hi all,
I’d recommend that you consider becoming qualified as a Technical Official. There is a training course in Dublin on 3-Feb. It’s good to be a TO (a) to give back to others so they can take part in events, just like you and (b) learn about how to organize a top quality race by seeing how others do it and what can go wrong and how to react. You also learn the rules - so hopefully won't get DQed when competing :-)

Several club members are TOs (Gunda, Britta, myself, et al) - it’s been a rewarding and interesting experience and time commitment is low, you pick which races you want to do.

Is any interested in this technical official course on 23-Feb?
It would be useful for anyone involved in organising Belpark race events, junior events, new to tri events, training camps, or even non-racing members who want to stay involved in making events happen for others. Myself, Gunda, Britta, Fergus and others have been officials in recent years - it's very rewarding and enjoyable.

In 2019, Triathlon Ireland will be running four Local Technical Official courses in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast. The course is free and open to club members (over 18yrs) to attend. I appreciate if you could please share the course details below and encourage any interested club members to attend:
The Local Technical Official qualification is aimed at individuals who are interested in becoming a volunteer Technical Official and has been designed to provide attendees with the knowledge required to begin officiating, as well as covering the soft skills needed to develop as an Official.

Technical Officials (TOs) play a key role in the safe running of events nationwide and in the continuous improvement the sport of Triathlon. TOs come from all sporting backgrounds - from those with vast triathlon experience to those who only recently began in triathlon. The TO's role is primarily to make sure the event is fun, safe and fair. The ITU officiating pathway consists of five levels and is linked between Triathlon Ireland and the ITU. This pathway allows Technical Officials to progress the level of event they are eligible to officiate at, National Events to ITU events.
