Hi All,
Just in case anyone missed notice on website- Belpark Triathlon Club is organising two FREE training events aimed at draft legal triathlon racing on Friday 30 June (Corkagh Park bike- handling session) and Sat 1 July Open Water Swim Session.
Full details are here: www.belparktri.ie/2017/06/superseries-racing-in-2017/
You don't have to be currently racing superseries but if it is something you would consider dipping your toes into in the next few years, it would be very beneficial to come along. Please just post below or email me at ellenwaterford@yahoo.com so I know numbers in advance or if you have any queries regarding whether session is suitable for you to attend
Separately even if superseries not currently on your radar, but you are a particular strong swimmer or have experience with bike racing - it would be beneficial to the group training dynamic to have a few extra bodies present (so we can practice proper group bike racing & bashing at the buoys etc!) so again, please do consider registering for the session, and no doubt you will find enjoyable!
I am also looking for ideas from cat 1/cat 2 athletes on particular skillsets they would like prioritised at session so I can inform coaches in advance. Again these can be posted below or emailed to me.
All the best,
Ellen

To get ball rolling here are my own ideas for training sessions based on racing skills I need to work on!
Skillset for Corkagh Park Session:
1. Superslick transitions when under pressure including flying mount. 2. Cornering properly- particularly 180 degree dead turns around cones 3. working efficiently in small chase group of 2/3 athletes on bike.
Open water Swim Session
1. Learn how to swim faster!

Thanks to Guillermo Lopez for coaching cat 1/cat 2 open water skills session yesterday. 8 in attendance and choppy conditions allowed group to work on sighting techniques and adjusting stroke rate/breathing to deal with waves. Dolphin dives, drafting techniques and fast starts also covered. Hoping to get more sessions like this organised for summer and also to plan ahead for 2018.post below or get in touch with me directly if you'd like to be involved or have any feedback on type of sessions/activities you would like to see happening

Thanks also to Guillermo and Maria for inviting us back to their home after swim for pizza. Though only 4/8 made it there... we ate enough pizza for 8!
