Very cold and frosty weather forecast for Sunday morning so for those who plan in making the Sunday spin, our options are
Aim to go as normal at 9.30 and review that morning Or decide in advance to go later e.g, 11 am.
Can those who plan to go please post up stating which you would prefer to do and if we go out, is the time suggested above suitable? Alternatively, suggest a third option!

I was out today and it was pretty icy so I think best option is to go out for 11am.

I would like to decide in advance to go later rather than trying to decide in the morning. By reading of forecast it looks like another cold night ahead so unlikely to be safe at 9.30am
However even with 11 am intended start, we woukd still need to review in morning. If frost & road temp havent cleared by 10.30 am ish, it might be best to cancel all together & hit the turbo!!

I'm just home from a solo spin so wont be out tomorrow. For what its worth I did the Blessington Lakes 80k spin, left the house at 11:30. Main roads were fine, kept out from the left a bit as there were a few puddles still frozen. Turned off at Lisheen Springs and it was surprisingly fine for most of the spin round the lakes, actually felt warmer than it was on the main roads. It got a little bit ropey then around the 35k - 40k climbing into that small village (cant remember the name of it but it has a pub) stick in the middle of the road and whoevers up front just keep a close eye out. It was all good then after about 40k for the rest of the way home. Id recommend going out that bit later, wear high vis and have lights just in case. Not sure if tonight is meant to be colder or not. Hope this helps.

Clontarf/Howth direction (from Blackrock) was mostly fine this morning with an 11am start.

Was out on main Blessington road ( Mark - I saw you heading back as I was going out!). No problem on main road at that time. So, it sounds like an 11am start but would need to review as Ellen said if not clearing by 10.30. I think the main Blessington road out and back might be the best route. Main road should be treated and in the past has been fine when secondary roads are bad. Might make for a slight boring spin but not as boring as turbo! Please post up if you plan to come out at 11am.

Had a feeling it was you Helen. Ye should be ok about 11, if ye head that way turn off at Lisheen, if it seems too bad then turn around and stick to the main road. Enjoy
