Hey all,
I recently purchased a second hand planet X tri bike. I am conscious of the risks purchasing a second hand bike re sizing etc. In a bid to avoid any neck/ back issues, I am looking to get professionally fitted on the bike. I am wondering does anyone have any recommendations? I spoke with Sean in Irish Fit and he referred me to a chap in Wicklow, but that doesn't really suit me atm. (car issues) All advice/ suggestions welcome as I really want to get this right. Additionally, if there are a number of people in the same position as me, the chap Sean had mentioned does do call outs provided there is a minimum number of people (8). Might this be an option for the club? Thanks in advance. Phil

Hi Phil, I kind of guess the Chap in Wicklow is Aidan Hammond ( www.bikefittingireland.com/ ), I have heard only good stuff about him and I need a set-up myself , so if a group is interested I happily join in

I went to Aidan Hammond and had amazing results. Had a few issues, particularly with saddles, and they were all resolved. The best money I've spent I'd say. Got advice and a 'partial' fit from Base2Race, in that I had my bike with me and could be put on a turbo for a few minutes of quick adjustments but the overall results were not good. Based on signposts I've seen on spins to Powerscourt Waterfall for Avoca (he's very close to it) could you cycle it?

What kind if price was aidan? If you need shorter stem etc does he supply? See the prices on each page of the bike fit types on the left hand menu of: www.bikefittingireland.com I think it's €120 or €160 depending on the type of fit. He does have a selection of stems and you can talk to him prior to the fit to double check this. There is also a reduced rate to get a club done but there's a minimum number required. The detail for this is on his site.

I'm going to book in with Aidan for this weekend. I know one other who may be interested. I know Aidan says he does club rates for 8+ riders, but if we can get a few more and are willing to travel down to him, I might see if he would do us a deal. I'll phone him tomorrow so in the meantime if anyone is interested let me know. Thanks

Thought I'd keep you all posted in case anyone else is considering. Aidan doesn't have a free weekend slot till Feb 21st. He has weedays and an evening free on Wed Feb 11th but neither suit my work location or time. Not sure if I fancy holding off for a month with the amount of mileage I have planned the next few weeks.

On bike fit, you can get a €50 voucher if you sign up for cycling Ireland licence, or 10% off otherwise.
