This all makes perfect sense, but I never really thought about any of it before. Had a quick look on Strava and my (and most other peoples) profiles show EXACTLY where your bike is stored. It's pretty bloody scary!

Just setting a privacy zone won't work, as all your existing rides will still show your start and end point. I've now completely deleted my Strava account and am going to reboot at some point after I get all these settings in place.

You could also just move house I was lucky that when i joined strava i knew about this setting so set up a privacy zone in all places where my bike would be stored. But after my last bike being robbed they will have to either take it off me when im sitting on it or they will have to rob my house.
