Sorry to hear people have been unwell. Not pleasant at all. I am sure DCT would appreciate being contacted directly at Gavin@DublinCityTriathlon.com -especially if anyone has confirmed illness with blood tests etc. The more information DCT can collate, the better informed when planning future editions of the race .
Our friends in Piranha put on a super race in very difficult weather circumstances and I am sure they will be as upset as anyone to hear of competitors being ill.

Agreed, Ellen. I don't think it's fair to lay blame with Piranha on this. The potential risks are outlined pretty clearly on the DCT site and in the race briefing. Just so happens that they got the worst imaginable weather in the hours leading up to the swim start. Having said that, it wouldn't be a bad idea to look at options for a different swim next year.

spoke this morning actually to the Piranha Person they will send out a survey to check how many people will get sick and they will not get this one repeated if the Weather conditions should be similar in any of the coming years than the swim will very likely be cancelled

oh wow!!! shocking to read that so many of you got ill I freaked out about that leptisorisis (whatever it's called) thing and kept my mouth tightly shut for the whole swim (which took me a shameful 14min yes, for the 500m haha), so I'm fine... I hope you guys will recover soon !!!!

Add me to the sick list too, only kicked in Thursday night for me. Went to the doctor this morning, bacterial infection. Rest and antibiotics for the week.
Filled in the survey sent by DCT, totally not their fault but if there is similar conditions in future years I'm sure they'll cancel the swim.
