Hi.
I'm new. I've just joined the club and would like to do some swimming training with the club. I'm not sure what category I fit into as far as whether I'm a beginner / improver / experienced. At the minute I'm doing 1x 1,000m swim per week. I can do 750m in 14 minutes. I'm a bit confused about how I can sign up to join a few sessions. Ideally, I'd like to go to one of the early morning sessions, any morning would be fine.
Are there any available places left? If not, when is the next available space?
-Thanks, Paul

In regards to swim session what you can do for a start is buy Pay as you go slots, we usually have a couple available for each session but they are sold on first come first serve basis, for those slots head over to our Website : Belparktri.com and sign into the member area, you will find there the info's for each session. For the swim, hard to judge therefor I would say try a beginner ( Friday 7AM ) or a Wendesday session ( improver ) and see what the coach thinks and how you feel. Hope this helps Cheers Britta

Sorry, one more new guy question. What's the story with parking over at the UCD pool at the early morning sessions?

You need to be UCD Gym member to use the dedicated car park at the back of the gym Otherwise you can use the carpark at the Clonskeagh entrance. Its free up to 8am, after that its pay parking until 5pm (i think, could be 6, not 100% sure) Latest i've been out from the pool is 8.20 and car has been fine, but wouldn't chance it further

Paul, there is a charge of €1 per hour or max €3 a day from 8am-7pm during academic terms (dedicated spaces only). These dates are on the yellow signs advising about public parking.

Currently the cancellation time for a swim session is 12pm the night before the session. I wondering could this be brought forward to 9pm. This would give people the opportunity to book cancel slots as waiting up till 12 to see if one cancels and then getting up then for a swim is unlikely to happen. I know I was checking all week for a session to come up for the Wednesday swim and there was nothing before I went to bed. Get up this morning and there is 2 which then went unused.

Hi Keith,
As far as I know, there is no definitive time for cancellations. The Booking FAQ states: "Cancellations must be made a reasonable time prior to the event. Reasonable in this context is not 10 minutes before the event is due to start. Use common sense. Cancel events as early as possible to give others a chance to be aware of the cancellation and to potentially book it themselves."
But you raise a very valid point all the same. There is nothing in the system currently to enforce when it allows people to cancel and still receive credit for that cancellation. That's why I wrote that it must be within a 'reasonable' timeframe. But in the absence of something I put into the code to enforce this, it's really up to individual club members to cancel swim sessions (or any other paid session) in sufficient time to allow someone else to take that slot. i know it's not always possible to cancel too far in advance, and that sometimes it's a very last minute change, but I would hope that people show their fellow teammates courtesy and cancel as early as possible.
If necessary though, I may have to resort to stricter enforcement of the rules and not be reliant on an honour system if it doesn't work. For now, I will add 9:00pm to the Booking FAQ and I will contact individuals who cancel slots after that stating that their credit coupon will no longer be valid.

Hi Joe, Is there a cut off time to book?
Last Monday week as I was trying to book before midnight on Sunday. It was displaying four spots as available but I was told it was closed or no spots available as I tried to book?
Thanks

Hi Diarmaid, no as long as there is a space you should be able to book right up to the time. F

Hi All, I'm new to the Tri-Club and was hoping to book a pay as you go slot for the swimming in UCD. I can see 5 slots are currently available for the Wednesday 04/05/2016 but when I try to book I get "Bookings have either not started yet or are now closed for this event." Could be newbie mistake as I'm not sure what I'm doing but is there somewhere else I can try to book these sessions? Thanks for your help, Matilda.

Hi Matilda
Firstly welcome to the club.
With the swim sessions the PAYG usually opens a day or two in advance. So for Wednesday you'll need to try Monday or Tuesday to avail of free spots. If you trawl through this and other posts you'll probably get exact times they open in advance for booking. Hopefully you can get a spot for Wednesday & sessions going forward. The current swim block ends at the end of this month so there will be an opportunity for you to buy a swim block which will guarantee you a spot each week. Keep an eye on website and forum for updates.
See you at some club sessions soon.
Mark

Hi Matilda,
Welcome to Belpark!
The PAYG slots are only available to book 3 days in advance of the session, so if you check back on Sunday you should be able to grab a spot.
