1. THIS WEEK
No Club Swim this week! The Club Duathlon is this Wednesday in Phoenix Park - Get yourself signed up to marshal or race. This is the final club race of the year and the team have done a stellar job in making it a successful race series. This is a big deal in raising the club profile and raising funds and relies solely on volunteers so get yourself down there!! 2. NEXT WEEKHandicap Race: Next Wednesday, July 13thThis is the 2nd of our new handicapped open water races for 2016. This is event is open to EVERYONE in the club, the only criteria is that your are confident enough to swim a few hundred meters out of your depth. Speed or ability does not matter. If you are nervous we can get someone to swim with you. The format is a bit different to a regular race. We take your time for a recent triathlon swim, pool TT or average swim pace per 100m in the pool and calculate your handicap. (if you do not have any of the above you we will work it out so don't let that put you off) We then stagger the start with the slower swimmers leaving first and faster swimmers leaving intermediately afterwards. In theory everyone will finish at the same time so no matter your speed or ability everyone has equal opportunity to win! In true triathlon style the race will only end when competitors have removed their wetsuits. Please comment below if you intend on coming. You need to post your swim times for either a recent race or pool TT or if you don't know and I'll calculate the handicaps. We will use Westport times as preference as it had the biggest club turn out. Rory please please, for the sake of all involved remember to wear your togs this time.
As always the full schedule of summer OW sessions, along with useful swim safety info can be found here: www.belparktri.ie/open-water-swimming/

I'm in. Westport was 19:56. Maybe I should wear fins to make it more even??? Your start time will be adjusted accordingly - no need for fins. You'll have as good a chance as the better swimmers! At the moment you'll start close to Go, and the best swimmers will be starting 8mins or so after you.

Hi Ben, what is the distance that will be swam on the night? Hi Phil, the route will likely be 3 buoys and back. Circa 650m. Not a bother to you.

Likely be a 7pm start so everyone needs to be there before 6:45.
Additionally I'm gonna need some help recording results and setting people off. Derval, Arron and Jeremy did a fantastic job last time so if I could get two people on Wednesday that would make life a lot easier
