Want to order a Huub wetsuit on sportpursuit, but I have to choose between a 4:4, which is for a standard swimmer; or 3:5 for those with sinking legs.
I asked Jack this morning if my legs were sinking (first time I ever considered the issue) and he said a little but possibly due to fatigue or my post operative limited stroke.
My question is - how many of you would actually buy a wetsuit specifically geared towards one having sinking legs?

Didn't even know that there is a Wetsuit out there that addresses that specific issues, wouldn't actually go down that path especially if that Westsuit is more expensive than the standard one. There is a good chance that you will now work on the sinking leg issue in the pool, since you know it you can work on it and improve or even fix it ;o))
The one thing I personally look out these days on a Wetsuit is shoulder movement, that needs to feel good the rest for me personally doesn't really matter and I'm a bad swimmer who loves open Water swims Good luck chasing that Wetsuit

I ordered the 3:5 but ordered from HUUB - they sent an email with x demos. Less than half the price of a new one. Havn't got it yet

Just my two cents, unless your legs sink dramatically I wouldn't go for 3:5. I have a similar design from Zoot (Prophet) and find the support too strong (legs almost above the water)

Unless you're a super fast swimmer go with the 3:5. Really the 4:4 is for those who have been swimming for years and are totally comfortable in the water. I have tried both and found the 4:4 hard to swim in, so I ended up going with the 3:5. A good few of the pro triathletes would use a 3:5 - possibly even the Brownlees I think.

More comments appreciated so I can form a view Any of the advanced swimming group care to chime in? Conal, how proficient a swimmer are you? Swim with the advanced group? Average 1:45-/100m in training?

My 2c.
In any wetsuit your legs will float a little higher, so base purchasing around your own body position in the water.
My wetsuit is 4mm chest/legs, and when I was looking at the Huub I was going to get the 4:4 but they were out of my size. I don't have very sinky legs, and I still find with 4mm legs my legs float a little too high for my liking - that said I don't kick (aside from balance) much in open water unless I need to sprint so something that keeps me level works fine.

Another thing to note is that well reviewed wetsuits wont necessarily suit everyone, despite their perceived quality. It's always with trying on a few different brands as you'll really see a difference between them. Some places even offer you a chance to try the suit in a pool, which will really give you a sense of how it feels. Having said that I did buy the Huub on SP and am very happy with it.

Thanks you all for your replies - unfortunately I have conflicting advice from the comments Conal, thanks for the comment on the Huub brand - settled my mind on that bit anyway. Now I have to decide between M or SMT and 3:5 or 4:4! Hmm is all I can say at this point (was always much simpler buying a windsurfing wetsuit!)

Get a measuring tape out and measure - wetsuits are tricky sizing wise. Then commit...before the good deal is gone!

Thanks Marijke - that's done. SMT it is.
Now I am down to 4:4 or 3:5.
