Great day John, thanks. I learnt, I gained confidence and had fun trying 'look no hands' on the bike!

John,
3 questions (linked):
I understood at the talk on Saturday that you multiplied the test heart rate by 0.95 to get your LTHR (knock off 5%), but the spreadsheet says you divide by 0.95 (add 5%); made for a tough(ish) level 2 60 mins on the bike today
I find my heart rate lags behind increasing effort and really lags behind decreasing effort, so a question you might know the answer to - I know it is it preferable to use a power meter, but is it also preferable to use the virtual power on trainerroad?
I find I nearly have to stop working out at all to get my heart rate down into Z1/2 within a reasonable time at all - can I disregard the recovery heart rate somewhat providing I know I am taking it easy?
Thanks,
Martin

Thanks, Martin Hi Martin You are correct as per talk in x.95 I will have sheet corrected apologises if incorrect Yes hr lagging is the problem particularly on 1st rep of a training seis after that it shouldn't be as bad but yes as explained on sat power will be more precise and also use perceived effort PE for your training. You can also take notes preferably in training diary if things do not match up this should also cover question 3 too once you are getting full recovery throughout a training plan and are fresh for hard training weeks well then I would go with PE for easy spins .

Does anyone know where the above mentioned spreadsheet is available? I have looked in the member zone and can't find it anywhere. I want to study to figure out training zones for turbo, either HR or power. Thanks Helen

(Handy to have the web site guru in the same room...)
