Belpark Season Opener Social & Fundraiser
This May Bank Holiday Monday we have a swim, bike or run morning events for all members and all ability levels which will be followed by coffee / breakfast in the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre Café. We’d urge all members to head on one of the events if they can and make the most of the opportunity to meet and chat. The three events are as follows:
1. ARC Cancer Support 5k / 10k
One of our members, Jennifer Hogan, is being treated for breast cancer and has had tremendous support from this charity. She has asked that as many Belparkers join her in taking part. Despite surgery and chemo Jennifer has kept racing and training, regularly showing up at Thursday runs, marshaling the Duathlon and racing in North Tipp and the Virgin Media Night Run. Read more about her experiences here. She is an inspiration to us all and this charity deserves our support. Entries available here.
2. Dublin Ironman 70.3 Cycle Route Recce Spin
Ian Grehan will lead anyone interested on (part of) the Dublin 70.3 route. The spin will leave the Papal Cross Carpark at 8am. And take in the flat 70km route towards Kilcock, Maynooth and the Strawberry Beds.
This is great for anyone racing Dublin 70.3 and a lovely flat coutry side spin for those just interested in a cycle. Suitable for anyone capable of the Sunday improver spins.
3. UCD Swims
The usual UCD swims will take place on Monday morning at the revised times of 8am/9am. Usual booking system via the website.
4. Coffee / Breakfast in the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre – 11am
After your choice of bank holiday activity (or lie in!) please join us in the Visitor Centre Café for breakfast and coffee to celebrate the start of the summer season. This should be a great way to meet new members to catch up with old.
If you are not around this weekend but would still like to make a donation to ARC you can do so here via their website: arccancersupport.ie/
Please post up if you are going!
