Hi all!
The Belpark Competition Training Camp takes place Saturday the 27th and Sunday 28th February. TI award prizes each year to the Mens Club Champions, the Ladies Club Champions and the Mixed Club Champions based on the results of individual athletes in the National Series. So, in the case of the Mens and Ladies Championships, the results of the top 6 male and top 6 female athletes in each club are added together to arrive at the club’s score. For the Mixed Championships, the results of the top 3 males and top 3 females in each club are taken.
Traditionally, Belpark – due to the depth of the athletes within the club – has done very well in these competitions, and we would like to do so again this year.
With this in mind the camp is focused towards those athletes who intend to compete in the National Series, Cat 1 and Age Group and contribute to scoring in the TI Club Championships. For the benefit of our newer members, in order to successfully complete the National Series, athletes must race in at least 4 National Series races of which one must be a sprint and one must be standard distance. The other two races may be any sprint, standard or middle distance National Series race. You can compete in as many races as you wish but only your best 4 will score points for the Club.
Further details regarding the National Series can be found here:
www.triathlonireland.com/Events/Race-Series-Details/2016/Vodafone-National-Series.html
A guide to the National Series race calender with a brief synopsis of some of the existing races can be found here:
www.belparktri.ie/race-calendar-2016-2/
Priority will be given to those who are Cat 1 for 2016 or in the top 6 in the Male and Female NS races in the last 2 years. However, we would be delighted if new or existing Belpark members who wish to compete for the club this season by completing the requirements for NS Club Championships/National Series would like to attend.
The camp will be largely technique focused and will encompass the following aspects with times and venues to be confirmed:
Swim
Presentation from Sinead McBreen (TriSwimmer/SwimSmooth) on SwimSmooth stroke types/stroke correction for swimmers. This will include a look at the main SwimSmooth drills and their use for each swim type. During this session we will try to have each swimmer identify their dominant swim type and the dominant issue in their swim type
Pool session with Sinead - Main SwimSmooth drills and the practice of same. Primary and secondary drills. Specific drills for specific swim type.
Bike
Bike Handling/Cornering coached session at Corkagh Park including Transition practice
Climbing/Descending practice session
Run
Running skills coached session for efficiency/speed
Camp Dinner on the Saturday evening
Indicative costs for the camp are €60 excluding dinner. This may change but we will endeavour to let members know final costs as soon as possible.
If you wish to attend the camp, please complete the following survey goo.gl/forms/XXbLKIKRYy before Friday 5th Feb and we will be in touch shortly to discuss details with you.
Thanks,
Arron & Ronan
