I find it very difficult to see which races people are attending and thought it would be helpful to have a race register on our website. So I have put together a Race Register system to allow everyone to enter the races you are doing.
To use the register, simply go to Member Zone and you'll see a new "Race Register" button. Click on that and you'll be presented with a list of all triathlon and duathlon events from the TI website (and then some).
Just click on the races you are attending and then click "Update Registrations". That's it. If you make a mistake and clicked on the wrong event, just uncheck it and update again. You can also see that each race is a link, and when you click on a specific race you will see a list of everyone attending that race.
If you are attending a race that isn't in the list, then just send me the details (name, date, type (standard, sprint), location, and whether it's a National Series race) and I'll add it to the database.
Also let me know if there are other types of reports/views you would like to see such as "Who's racing this month" to perhaps show a list of upcoming races and who's attending them.
I think this type of system could be very useful, BUT - it will only be useful if you enter in your races!
Feedback welcome and please let me know if something doesn't work correctly. This is fresh off a fairly complicated assembly line so some tweaking may still be required..

Hi Dave, yes, that's exactly it. I knew we had a spreadsheet somewhere in Google Docs but it's not easy to find or use. And it needs to be easy for people to take the time to use it. As for transferring the data over, it's all possible, but far too time consuming for me to add data for other people since it involves more SQL scripts.. I've seen enough of those for a while.. It's very easy to update though (a couple have already done so already - thank you), so everyone should just update the page with their own races.
No trial. It's live. The bang starts now..

Thanks Joe, is it possible for us to select a race and see who else is racing it. Would be useful to organise car pools etc? Thanks Frank

Hi Frank, yes as mentioned in my original post, all you need to do is click on the race name and it will show you who is attending.

Version 2 has now gone live..! You can click on individual race events to see who's attending, but now you can also click on a name in that list and see all the races that that person is doing. From there you can choose a different race, see who's attending, select a person, ... ad infinitum..
Essentially you can now see all the races someone is doing simply by clicking on their name.. Enjoy

That's really nice and now I'm tempted to sign up for the Caroline Kearney race since I see that quite a crowd is heading there

This is brilliant Joe! And yes I too entered CK too, as I saw from this new feature that many from the club are going. So this easily allows us to see who's doing what and will encourage us to enter more races :-) (I never knew that .xl existed!!)
