Hi Folks
Firstly a quick hello as many of you know the club has appointed a club coach to oversee club training and provide some programs for monthly training
I would like to thank Conal for his work that has gone into getting this off the ground and hopefully we can keep perfecting it over the season to be big advantage to all club members.
So to introduce myself my name is John Caffrey an ex club member from 2004 to 2010 i then gave up triathlon to race on bike which i"m still concentrating on now, as a previous international canoeist i have trained for last 25 years up to 2/3 times a day and have been largely self coached winning numerous national titles in canoeing, along with several tri(including Belpark club champ 2010)/duathlon and adventure races and more recently national titles and records on bike.
As a coach in canoeing I have coached at national, international and up to Olympic qualifying and have coached several triathletes with numerous race wins between them including a lot of Belparks most successful athletes over the last 10years.
Along the way we will have some group meetings for talks on training and skills for swim bike run and transition practice.
The first talk should be in next few weeks as i fell its very important for people to understand their training rather than just following a plan blindly,
also it will be necessary for people to adjust program to suit their race schedule as obviously we cant cover for everybody's individual race schedule.
So we will be dividing groups into
1- novice people training once a day at weekend and roughly every 2nd day during week
2- people training once a day
3- people training roughly twice a day
if anybody following a schedule wants to add more training if they look at next program they will get and idea of extra training can be done
also if people aren't training enough to complete prog 1 just complete what you can the tues and thurs seis are quite important
where possible the program is also following the club training seis as these are very valuable with coaches present for each discipline however for those that cannot make these alternative similar training seis we on program also.
enjoy
