The Duathlon Season is well and truly underway with the National Championships in Galway on the 12th March. As per the past few multisport seasons it is the Women outshining the men. Club Chair Helen French is sitting comfortably in 2nd place in her age group with 3 races completed and just needs to finish in Galway to secure a final ranking. Derval Devaney has just one race complete were she finished an excellent 2nd overall. Linda Fitzsimons sits in 7th place in her age group and will need a finish in Glaway to secure a National Series ranking. Grainne Forde had a strong race in the first Naas Duathlon and would be in with an excellent change at an AG podium is she can finish out the series. In the Men’s National Series Staffard Viggors and Ciaran Ryan are the only Men who have completed more than one race and will need to attend Galway to secure a ranking. With additional entries on sale for the National Championships next weekend and a further four National Series races (including Belpark’s Phoenix Park Race on 22nd April) the series remains open. To complete the National Series an athlete must finish 2 National Series Races and the National Championships. Good luck to Helen, Linda, Grainne and anyone else racing in Galway on Sunday. Enjoy...You'll do Belpark proud, I'm sure.
