On Sunday 14th May a huge Belpark contingent are doing the Carlow Triathlon. For those that are not racing but would like to cycle down to support them, please post interest below.
- The distance is 80km on a fairly flat route, heading along the N81 through Blessington/Baltinglass
- The spin pace will depend on who's out, we may split into 2 groups.
- We will meet at 7.50am at Rathfarnham Club House & will roll out at 8am sharp. This is to ensure we arrive in Carlow with plenty of time to re-fuel & than be on hand to support the races, with the first wave off at 12.30.
- There will be an option to either spin home (making it a 160km round trip) or to get a lift back with some of the racers.
- When you get to Carlow, you will need NB a bike lock, warm clothes & runners to change into. [Ideally these will be given in advance to someone who is not racing - if anyone can volunteer to take these from us at Club House at 7.50am - that would be really helpful!!!].
In order to gauge numbers & logistics, it is essential to post up if you are interested in coming along and indicate whether you are doing 80km or 160km (return journey). If doing 80km, please indicate whether you need a lift home afterwards or have already organised your own transport.
If doing the return journey, please be aware that it may be 2.30/3pm before group leaves Carlow & that you shouldn't have any early afternoon plans for back in Dublin!!
Also important to remember when group arrives that there will be various road closures, out of bounds areas as the organisers get ready to start the race & we should follow instructions of marshals at all times & not impede them in anyway.
I won't be doing return journey myself.
