Hi everyone, As you may know, we have designated Tri 795 sprint triathlon as our beginner's triathlon this year and lots of members have signed up. We would encourage as many members as possible to come down and support participants. To help people prepare for what is for many, their first triathlon, Belpark has organised two events for beginners the weekend before the triathlon.
1) Transition practice This will be held at 10am on Saturday 9th of May in Corkagh Park and will be run by Liam Dunne who also coaches our turbo sessions. This will be a good opportunity to practice transitions safely in a closed course.
2) Open Water Session This will be held at 6pm on Sunday evening at Seapoint and will give beginners a chance to acclimatise and get used to open water swimming in a safe environment along with some good tips and techniques (depending on how long you feel you can stay in the water!)
Places are limited so if you are interested in attending, please email new.belpark.members@gmail.com, stating which session (or both) you're interested in. For insurance reasons, you will need to be a member of both Belpark and Triathlon Ireland.
Please note that places will not be confirmed based on forum posts but feel free to ask questions below.

Valerie, for the transition session what gear do we need, other than bike and runners? Also how long is the session?

Hi Ciaran
The session will last approx. an hour and a half. Just bike and run gear needed - hopefully the weather will be good :-)
