Just spotted this on twitter from Waterford Tri
New 5km run course this year due to traffic restrictions in village. And yes Killea hill is still in..

That hill is a real test so glad its still in even if im not doing it this year  interesting where they are going to put the run they could go up the hill and then turn around at the top and come back down a few hundred meters and go in around by the golf club. If they do that, that's another hill to climb and the surface is uneven. if there is traffic restrictions can't see the finish being outside the haven hotel so it could be around by the spinniker bar which would make sense as that road is closed during it. So id say the run will be around by the golf club or just a out and back. Id prefer the golf club route. |

Keith, I was thinking golf route most likely too, I will see if I can find out any more. There can be no complaints over the club champs giving an unfair advantages to the #uberrunners this year!!

Whats the bike course like hilly/flat? oh and the swim is it usually choppy or usually ok for us weaker swimmers?

John, I have done the race last few years, and the swim is usually pancake flat and very rarely any chop or waves. No real hills on the bike at all, a couple of very small drags.
The hill to Killea church is steep so even if only 5km, so you strong runners will still have some advantages .....just not an extra 2km of an advantage!!

It's the hill at the end that nobody tells you about!! It rises before you like a bad dream just when you thought it was over! I am still going on about .. So is that gone??

Oh that last hill, think still have some nightmares about that but still me thinks getting from the beach to transition is still the toughest part
