Hi,
While it (and by that I mean the pain) is still fresh in people's memory, I'd be very interested if folks wanted to share their marathon training programs. I'm particularly interested in those plans that reflect input from Rathframhan AC (i.e. the experts!) and plans that have a mix of tempo and interval works as well as long slow runs. All the better if plans had swim and bike activity baked in.....
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Run less, run faster (a book) I was following the half marathon plan from it (until I got injured in Belfast), great mixture of short(er) interval training, tempo run and long run It recommends swim/cycle as additional work out too I am no expert but liked the plan as there are 3 runs/week and i was able to commit to that and saw a huge progression following the plan

Andrew if you are a member of Rathfarnham AC Adam will give you a marathon plan if you ask for it. Typically it involves two paced runs a week, a long run and easy runs the other days. Some weeks intervals will be mixed in especially at the start and towards the end. Really helps to have company for paced runs and long runs.

It is a great plan if you also want to incorporate triathlon training because they *only* have 3 key runs per week, but make no mistake these workouts are no picnic. The other sessions they recommend are still cardio, but can be swims or cycles. I did okay using it for a marathon, but I did really well using it for a recent half-mary when I substituted a lot of the non-running workouts with runs. Depends on the person, I guess. I have the book and would be happy to lend it to you if you want to take a look.

Clare, thanks that's useful. Not a member of Rathfarnham unfortunately but interested in seeing one of those plans if that's allowed for a non member! It was the use of tempo and interval session that I was interested in particular so your comments are very useful.
Hana / Naoimi, thanks for the recommendation/offer, might take a look at that too.
Cheers

Hi Andrew, no you need to be a member since Adam does out the plan each week it's not a set plan. The Rathfarnham membership is very reasonable though considering what you get for it, especially for Belpark members. There are plenty of generic plans on the web if that's what you are looking for.
