sitting on my comfy couch and just starting to look in earnest into the races for next year, I know what I want to finish with but the start is the big question.
I'm doing lough Cutra half at the end of May so defiantly want to have at least one sprint before that under my belt
Any recommendations ?

Joey Hannon in Limerick is good, it's in April - pool swim. Nice flat bike. Run is nothing too scary either. Con : it's in Limerick

I did the joey hannon sprint last year britta and really liked it, it's usually on the last weekend in April, should come up on Limerick tri club website soon it always sells out as soon as it opens which was the start of January last year! It's a 50m pool too in UL so it's nice!

Given my inability to adapt to the cold Irish water, doing a tri that involves a pool swim may be something worth considering. Thanks for posting - I will keep this one in mind!

If any one can recommend a good first timer standard distance tri as well that would be great ! Caroline Kearney in Mullingar is a nice one Maeve. It's not too far away, nice and flat, run is on quiet country lanes. I'll definitely be doing it for the 3rd time in 2016.

Mullingar could be done in a day trip which suits perfect !
