For any members interested in building up running strength in a fun and competitive environment, the IMRA Winter league kicks off this week-end with an 8km race in Howth. It's also a great way to discover new training routes and take the tedium out of running on the roads or laps of Bushy Park. It costs €10 to join the association for the year and €7 per race which is fantastic value. It's a not-for-profit organisation and all money goes back to the association or some nominated charities during the year such as Goal nod Mountain Rescue. Dont be put off by the word ' mountain' in the title of the organisation - most of the races early in the year are more hill races with races generally getting longer and higher as the Summer progresses. Registration has gone online now so you need to register at least 24 hours in advance.
