Hi all
As the grand stretch in the evenings is nearly upon us we are delighted to announce that the very popular official Belpark hill interval training sessions will commence on Thursday 7 April at 18:30. This club session will take over from the indoor bike turbo sessions which are due to finish up soon.
Known as 'Phil's Hills' these training sessions are coached by Phil Smith and are suitable for all levels of cycling ability, these are great way to build cycling strength and power in your legs for the race season ahead.
The meeting point is Taylors Pub Carpark, Kellystown Road (near the back gate of Marlay Park)
You will need your bike, a cadence sensor (preferable but not essential), all weather clothing, bicycle lights (in case the stretch is not so grand) your helmet and a 'can do' attitude.
As mentioned above the hill interval sessions have proved very popular with members over the last number of years and in that regard maybe some of our established club members would like to share their thoughts below to assist our newer club members.

Brilliant to have the hill repeats sessions back - summer must be on the way....!
Great for all levels and they made a huge difference to my cycling last year. Looking forward to it!

These are great sessions irrespective of your ability - do as many as you want/can. Socialble too! Looking forward to it.

yep, great session, worth noting if you find if tough you can aim for an earlier turnaround point and/or taking a slower pace. If you managed to attend consistently you will notice the improvements either in knocking off time or finding you can go further up. E

You'll also notice improvement week on week. Keep at them and you'll be flying up hills in tough gears in no time. Well worth the effort.

Hi. I just joined this week. But I've never cycled with a group. And the extent of my cycling is commuting from Lamb Doyles Sandyford to Leeson Street and Back each day However, I've invested in a roadbike and want to do a triathalon this year. Would I be completely out of place if I try to join this session tonight ?

Hi, firstly welcome to the club. There is no hill session tonight, we have the club Duathlon in the Phoenix Park, there are some tickets left if you would like to do that, appropriate for beginners or else come on down to watch and help if you would like. Regards Frank

Thanks Frank. I don't know whether to be elated or disappointed <;o) I'm recovering from an arthroscopy on my knee which was bereft of cartilage in November - so I'm tentative on the running at the moment. Will catch a bike or swim session soon ! Best of luck to everyone in the part tonight.
