Inaugural Belpark Bondi-Rescue Relay and BBQ

Hi all!

I am very pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural Belpark-Bondi-Rescue Relay.

This is a social event open to all and it shall take place this Saturday June 18th at Greystones South Beach. There will be a post-event bbq at my house in Windgates afterwards. Time subject to confirmation but it will revolve around the Ireland match.

The event itself is a relay involving a run, short skins swim and board paddle. Boards will be provided, but id suggest runners are worn for the run. Wetsuits are not forbidden but time penalties will apply! Budgie smugglers are encouraged and team time bonuses will be awarded for donning a pair of smugglers!

I will post more details later this week but in the meantime if you are interested in taking part please fill in the doodle poll so I can get an idea of numbers, for both the relay and bbq.

Would of enjoyed this. Did my first Irish sea race in 10 years last week at Bray harbour. O.M.G. it was FREEZING. I seriously considered getting out after the first buoy. Out of 183 swimmers - I arrived in 182nd !! And I'm not sure a wet suit would of helped much !!! However I'm off to sunny Rome for the Weekend. So enjoy all!

Likely event running time is now midday, with a view to combining Ireland match and bbq at 2pm.

Hi all,

Due to the relatively short notice afforded, proximity to other races and international football events and the overwhelming interest form people who can't attend this weekend, we have decided to reschedule the inaugural event to later in the summer to give more people a chance to participate, and most importantly to allow for delivery times for those purchasing their swimming costumes online!!

Keep an eye on your inboxes for the proposed rescheduled date, and thanks to everyone who has expressed an interest in the event!
