16 Belparkers will venture down to Belvedere House near Mullingar for the Mixed Team Relay National Championships this Saturday, July 9th.
The event is a very fast and exciting format where by each member each team (two females and two males) race flat out for a 250m swim, 5km bike (Draft legal!) and 1500m run before tagging the next member to do the same. Each person is expected to take circa 15mins to complete their leg.
The stakes are high with the top 2 teams securing the right to represent Ireland at the ETU Mixed Team Relay European Championships in Spain this September
This is sure to be an exciting spectacle and it would be great if club members could show their support by making the 1hr trip to shout and cheer their club mates around the course. Bring whistles, cow bells, hooters, flags and plenty of Belpark Gear to show your support.
The race will be held at 15:00 directly after the Bressie Ironmind Race so there is sure to be a super atmosphere.
Please post below if you plan on heading down or want to arrange a car pool.
See you there!
Ben

Brilliant atmosphere at Mullingar on Sunday. With 4 teams Belpark was best represented club and definitely had most vocal supporters.
Cork, Limerick & indeed Pulse who came 1st, 2nd, & 4th all had athletes who've raced/are racing at international level, so delighted to be on team that came 3rd with Derval, Art, & Brendan and to show that well organised & motivated club athletes could compete with international stars! Triathlon is a very individual sport normally so it was exciting (and different kind of pressure) to be racing for team medals for once.
Thanks to the Belpark committee for organising all the different team & various logistics, and well done to everyone who raced and came down to support. Would really encourage more members to do it next year - regardless of whether you are starting out or experienced racer. Racing was hard & fast, margins for error huge & it was all over before you knew it! As Eoin G, neatly sums it up if you listen to the end Triathlon Ireland Video 'tag box video' you just have to "Hammer it"!!! www.facebook.com/triathlonireland/?fref=ts
Great work also by Belpark club member Kevin Keane who in his day job capacity with Triathlon Ireland was one of the lead organisers of the whole event and also coaches 75% of the Belpark bronze medal team!
