Dear Belpark members, as we conclude another successful Duathlon Series, I would just like to thank lots of people!!
Firstly, massive thanks to Padaig Ruane who took over from Fergus Dowd as Race Director this year and did a sterling job..always on top of everything and totally calm and in control
Many thanks also to the race committee under the leadership of Padraig who were busy working behind the scenes for many months leading up to the races themselves:
David Power, Andrew Boyle, Conal Markey, Ciaran Burns, Carina Davison, Sarah O' Regan, Mark Cannon, Sharon Meylor, Tim Goodyer, Sarah Walsh, Fergus Dowd
This year, for the first time we held a Junior Duathlon at the June race. This was organised by the Junior race sub-committee, led by our Child Welfare officer- Sharon Meyler. Subcommittee members were Cristian Varela, Frank Magee, Phil Smith, Andrew Minch, Andrew Woods and Tim Goodyear.
Thanks to Joe Johnson and Konstantin Antipenko for capturing the photographic evidence so skillfully for the three races, and to Liam Lynch who provided the cones for the 3 races.
We also had a number of new sponsors this year, including: Sports Physio Ireland, Andy Kenny Fitness, Bike Fitting Ireland, Fyffes bananas, Chia Food, Quest Adventure races, Avonmore Protein Milk, Masterlink Logistics, Lactate Ireland, Sports Food Ireland.
A targeted approach to obtaining sponsors this year was led by Dave Power with various members providing contacts to some of these sponsors
Finally, the races cannot go ahead without our members who volunteer as marshals and section heads for the various races. It was great to see so many of you volunteering to help out and those others who came out to compete in the races! There was a great club spirit at all of the races with everyone pitching in to lend a hand where help was needed.
Thanks also for the feedback you all gave to ensure we continue to run high quality races that we can be proud of as a club.
Sincere apologies if I have omitted anyone from this list!!
Regards
