Sports Psychology and Sports Nutrition SeminarWednesday February 15th from 6.30pm The Red Room, UCD Student Centre, UCD, Belfield UCD Sport in partnership with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership are running the fourth seminar of the 2016/2017 series on Wednesday February 15th from 6.30pm. The seminar will cover two key areas that affect sporting performance in athletes and players. Dr. James Matthews, a chartered psychologist and assistant professor at the UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science, will speak about how psychology can enhance sport performance and facilitate long term sport participation and enjoyment. Tips to enhance athlete motivation and confidence will also be included as part of the talk. The second speaker, Danielle Logue, is a PhD student from the UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science and is currently working in collaboration with the Sport Ireland Institute. Danielle's talk will cover evidence based nutrition for coaches, parents and players and nutrition for sport pre/during/post training and competition. 6.30pm – Sports Psychology - Creating an Optimal Climate for Athlete Achievement and Enjoyment. Dr. James Matthews 7.15pm – Tea/Coffee 7.30pm – Sports Nutrition – the good, the “fad” and the ugly. Danielle Logue Attendance is FREE and open to UCD sport Club members, UCD students, staff and members of the public.
