Hi All, We have a few beginner sessions coming up to get you ready for race season! These sessions are a great way to improve your skills and get some last minute practice in before Carlow on May 14th Wednesday 3rd May - Open Water session 7pm @ Seapoint This is a great chance build to confidence in the open water, and for some good tips and techniques on getting in and out of your wetsuit…! Wednesday 10th May – Transition practice session 7pm @ Corkagh Park This will be the perfect opportunity to practice transitions safely on the purpose built cycle track. While these sessions are geared for those that are new to racing, they are open to all members as a refresher for race season. If you are interested in coming along to one or both of these please post below, or email newmembers@belparktri.ie Thanks, Deirdre

Great stuff. Put me down for both. Anything us Newbies need to know about the open water session....do you need neoprene hats, gloves, boots @ this time of the year or will a wetsuit & a cup of Bovril after suffice...?
Thanks

Just the wetsuit, hat & goggles is all you need for the open water session. If you have a neoprene hat feel free to wear it, but it's not necessary. I usually double up my swim hats for warmth - and it can also help keep you from losing your goggles during a race (goggle straps over 1st hat and under the 2nd hat!) Gloves and boots aren't allowed in a race so no point relying on them.... - gotta get used to the water! The Bovril after will sort you out
