There's a discount code for sign up before April 30. check the Boyne swim event on Facebook. I would like to try it but might be a bit slow if it's all serious swimmers. Thinking about it.

Sounds like a plan Eilish. I'll decide today. Wouldn't have bikes so could fit a few people in one car too.

Folks, - what kind of time is considered 'average'? Or what times are you guys looking at? Trying to decide whether to sign up or not.

Gav, hard to put a time on it - will depend on the conditions. I am fairly slow in the water by club standards (imo!) and find I come in roughly mid pack in these type of events. Don't be put off by that - only factor is whether you feel you can cover the distance (not forgetting this one is 100% downstream so easier). A

Well I'm even slower I'd say. The key for me is managing to keep my arms moving for the required length of time. Less than an hour but maybe not by much if I don't keep going in a straight line.

OK, it sounds doable. Will many be doing this in a wetsuit? Actually I must look into getting one and doing some open water training. A 2.7k swim may well not be the time to try out a new one and discover some part of it rubs a little Any advice on where to get one, getting the right size etc? I saw from a previous post that Base2Race is probably the best to get one as you get advice and can try it in the pool.
