Also read earlier (on boards) that course is likely to be, swim scotsmans bay, cycle out to west dublin / kildare and back to Phoenix Park with entire run in PP... cost will be inline with other 70.3 races so about the 250 mark. What happened to all the hills we hoped for!!!

Can't believe they'd miss the opportunity to show off the countryside with a scenic cycle. Sounds fairly flat though so I'm nearly tempted!

So hope that those Route information's are wrong, that would be really disappointing, I'm rubbish at hills but I think for this Race it should go over the hills in the Wicklow's and finish somewhere in the city, I thought after all that this is also a something for the tourism business. So I keep my fingers crossed

Date has been officially confirmed on the Ironman website, no longer TBD. No route info though, they are really dragging their heels

Promotion of the whole thing has been very poor. Having second thoughts over handing over money for something potentially half-baked. Anyone else have reservations or am I just impatient?

I'll not be bothering I'd say, the buzz won't be there

I was very excited about this initially, but all the impetus has been lost now. It didn't help that initially the talk revolved around a wicklow cycle and CC run, while now talk is of kildare cycle and phoenix park run.
300 quid is a lot of money to hand over and you'd really want to be getting a great experience to justify the expense

I agree, was very excited about it when it was first announced with the sea swim, Wicklow cycle and run around the city center on closed roads. Phoenix Park just wont pull the crowds like the city center. The longer its dragging on and the longer ive had to think about it (potential €300 entry fee, revised routes etc) its becoming less appealing.

I have had my eye on this like many others - and still 50/50 on whether to do it. Without the knowing price or the actual course I guess I will agonize on what to do over the weekend. A run around PP does not really do it for me. I did not get an email as yet even though pre-registering?

You'd probably want to edit out your password there Chris before someone grabs it:)
Seriously though, this email is absolute BS. Takes them forever to bring the race live, then they give you three days to decide if you want to enter. There is no mention of an entry fee (or even a ballpark figure) and the course isn't listed either.
When exactly are they planning on giving you these details? After you have paid your money? My registration is entirely course dependent so it puts me in an awkward position.
What do you all think about signing up to this? If the provision of information on the course and organisation of the entries is this crap, I would seriously question their ability to run a decent HIM.

That's ironman for you- how dare you ask for details - just get the tattoo and shut up. Honestly if someone wants to use my "secret" code go ahead . I'll try get a spot but won't cry if I don't. You could do a years worth of olympic tris for the price of this one race. But peer pressure and all that......

250 Euro + 6% Active Fee, that's ouch but they allow to transfer the Race entry to another event, so will try to get an entry and if I get the feeling it gets to dodgy than I will transfer to another 70.3 Race
