Hi everyone
As we come to the business end of the season, it is worthwhile bearing in mind that all your hard work racing this summer could lead to club glory for Belpark!
TI award prizes each year to the Mens Club Champions, the Female Club Champions and the Mixed Club Champions based on the results of individual athletes in the National Series. So, in the case of the Mens and Female Championships, the results of the top 6 male and top 6 female athletes in each club are added together to arrive at the club’s score. For the Mixed Championships, the results of the top 3 males and top 3 females in each club are taken.
Traditionally, Belpark – due to the depth of the athletes within the club – has done very well in these competitions, and we would like to do so again this year.
And completing the National Series is now easier than ever! Each athlete is only required to complete 4 NS races in order to get a ranking from TI. Of these four races, one must be Olympic and one sprint distance. The other two can be of any distance, once they are categorized as NS races (so, as the Lost Sheep is a National Series middle distance race, it would count as one of your 4 races).
On that note, we would encourage everyone who is competing this summer to check their calendars and – where possible – aim at completing the National Series. Completing the series will provide a useful guide of where you rank individually in your age group, and also give you a target to beat next year. For those who perform well in their age your, it may mean they qualify for Cat 1 racing next year. As well as all that, it will help the club in the Club Championship rankings!
Attached is a link to a spreadsheet which members are encouraged to complete to show which NS races you are competing in. This will help with making arrangements for races.
If you have any questions on the National Series, more information is available on the TI website, or feel free to contact me (through the forum), or ladies captain Julie Anne Bowden (at belparkladies@gmail.com).
Happy racing!
Brendan
