Any plans to do the Half Ironman swim course soon?? I know there is a practise swim planned but it it is the day before the race. Would love to tag along with anyone who knows that part of the bay as there seems to be lots of rock hazards etc. First half, so very nervous!!

Maybe we can just organise a general swim in Scotsman bay next week during high tide ? The swim start is practically at the 40 foot , swimming direction harbour, a bit parallel to the harbour and exit on the green strip which runs along the R831, so we could do all levels, for people who want to swim for 2km there and another groups who goes straight across

I'm not sure there is an easy exit point at Newtownsmith (along the grass where t1 will surely be)....suspect they might have to build a ramp. In that event maybe makes sense to go out and back from Sandycove beach (swim start).

I can check it out next time I'm down there (I just passed it by on my run earlier but didn't know to pay attention!)

I will be down there over the weekend as well , I guess yes they need to build some kind of ramp, I think I have seen stairs there but you would get 2000 people up via that

Great. Keep us posted on the day and time you are meeting up please as I'm really keen. Swam half way out last week. Drag of the current seemed quite a bit stronger in the middle than Seapoint.

Had a look at the Bay today, think a swim there can really only be done at full high tide, there are a amazing amount of rocks around
