Hi Britta

I see the plan is to move the PAYG slots to the discussion board away from Facebook - any particular reason? the good thing about FB is that you can get a phone notifiction when the Club posts a page - i doubt you can do that with the discussion board.

If you set the board up through the tapatalk app you can get notifications.

I would assume the intention is to have people use the board as a central accessible resource, and secondly as not everyone uses Facebook.

Hi I signed up again today but was charged 59 Euro even though its only 6 weeks this time. Did the price go up or is that a relic from last 8 week block. Cheers Ronan

Hi Andrew and Ronan,

We are moving from facebook to discussion boards based on feedback from members and a few other practical reasons. Firstly not everyone has a facebook account which means they are not able to book PAYG, & it meant some people were booking via text message to myself, which was obviously not ideal. Secondly there are over 1,000 "likes" on facebook, whereas there are only 160 club members, so we are trying to encourage our members to use the discussion board more for internal communications, such as posting about regular training events, and to keep facebook more for advertising external/one-off events. Posts on FB also frequently get buried quite quickly, so it was pretty difficult to keep a record of who was cancelling swims, entitled to PAYG credit etc.

We will trial the new discussion board for PAYG for this block, and we can always make changes again if it doesnt work out. We also hope to post up the swims at same time each week, rather than at random times, to make it easier for members to know when to check the board. I wasnt actually aware myself of the taptalk app that Rob mentioned- but it sounds like this will be quite useful. Maybe Rob or someone more app savvy than myself such as Dave Power can provide further info on this!!

Sorry that was a Typo it is a 8 Week block , for some reason I always think it is a 6 Week block but it always a 8 Week block ,starting on the 28th of August
